So i asked her...
And she said copycat..
What is a copycat literally?
It is one who
imitates others'
work without adding
ingenuity.
In this world we have 2 kinds of people
1.The people who are all conquering exploring new
frontiers always willing to try something new, the kind of people that others look up to and want to be like.
2. The second group are people labelled as contented, those that follow others foot steps.... also
known as copycats.
To general opinion the former group would certainly be the ''in'' group to be in.
Don't we all want to be pioneers of something. Whether its creating a new rocket to fly the galaxies or making the red
Adidas pullover the latest fad, we , big or small, old or young, want to start something new. We want to be unique. To have our own identity. There is nothing wrong in that.
But do not
undermine or underestimate the latter group.
In life u
don't always have to do something new. If a tried and tested method works why not follow it. Do not get me wrong,
I'm not
referring to plagiarism of any sorts.
I'm merely talking about following an already set path and improvising on it to suit your own needs in life.
Always remember that its cool to be unique but in trying to be unique you can also fall flat on your face if what you do
doesn't comply with the norm of the general census.
Just like that, unique can become weird.
Martyrs can be labelled terrorists.
And
heroes can become zeros.
It is a risk you take and for some people that risk simply
isn't worth taking.
Instead these people choose to take the road already trodden openly without fear of being labelled a copycats. They prefer to lead comfortable lives at peace with themselves rather than live in fear of chancing risk and fate.
And now you are probably
thinking, to hell with them i choose to be unique and
that's the way i am.....the risk taker, the go-getter, the one that never follows 'the herd mentality'.
Now, think properly, have you never been a copycat??
That new pair of shoes you have which
your friends
separate you from the rest for being unique. Why did u pick it up? Because you saw it on some model and thought it looked good?
That red
saree you wanted after seeing it on an actress on
tv( no pun intended :P).The want for it is because you saw it looked good on someone else and contemplated how it would look on you.
The
Ferrari which you have the luxury of buying that makes u different from the rest. But
didn't you see someone looking good in the car or someone speeding in that car that made you want to buy it??
Does that make us all copycats?? Maybe so..
I'm sure many of you would love to beg to differ.
But all i ask is this, next time if someone plagiarises work with no improvisation whats so ever then call the person a copycat. But even if there is the
teeniest amount of change then let it go, its just someone
trying 2 move along in life following a path that is preexisting to ensure a smooth journey ahead.
As they say its not easy to catch a copycat.
